Colour on cloth: dyeing, breakdown printing, monoprinting with dyes.

We will explore a variety of techniques that can be used to colour textiles, including inks, dyes and pastels. After learning the basics of procion dyeing, during the course of the week the methods of application will become more and more complex, from simple methods of application to monoprinting with dyes, silk screen printing and, of course, breakdown printing which can give such surprising results. We will also look at transfer dyes and simple collagraphie on fabric.
