Various materials can be used to create transparency in textiles and embroideery, some are obvious, others less so. This course aims to explore a “lightness of being” in the embroideries/textile pieces produced.
After a day looking at local seascapes and taking visual notes, we will return to the studio to explore: from transparency partially see-through:
dyeing and printing in transparency on synthetic fabrics; working with fibres and creating laces to evoke transparency; openings and fillings…
